To "copy and paste" something means that you can take a file, part of a document, an image, or even bits of text, and put it in a different place, a bit like lifting something and moving it to another location and setting it down.
Below you can see a few ways of copying and pasting
Mouse Method
Highlight it by holding down the left side of your mouse and dragging across whatever it is you want to copy.
Release your hold from the left button of the mouse.
Right click the highlighted file or text. A command box will appear.
Left click on Copy, to copy the highlighted file or text.
Take it to the new location where you would like to place the file or text.
Place the cursor where you would like the file or text to be and right click over that location.
A command box will appear.
Left click on the Paste command, for the file or text to reappear in its new location.
Mouse and Keyboard Method
Highlight the file or text by holding down the left button of your mouse and dragging across the file or text you want to copy. ('Ctrl' + 'A' ) also selects All
Release your hold from the left button of the mouse.
Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard, (usually below the left shift key on a Windows keyboard) while pressing the C key at the same time, this will "copy" the highlighted file or text.
Goto your new location, where you would like to place the file or text and place the cursor over the area where you would like it to be.
Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard, while pressing the V key at the same time, for the file or text to reappear, which is also known as "pasting".
Then there is the Drag and Drop Method
Select the text or file.
Drag and drop it into its new destination.

The ability to cut, copy, and paste is found in most programs. Sometimes, the ability to do these tasks via the mouse is disabled, but is still quickly achieved through the use of the shortcuts outlined above.
